You’ve moved 9 times! That’s insane. I hope these were apartments because if you bought and sold 9 homes you must be truly mad, or you really like new homes. I’ve moved through many apartments, but only two houses.

My favorite tip for moving is to label your boxes based on where you want them to go in the new place – such as living room, basement, garage, etc. Those that are helping you move need only to place the box in the correct rooms!

If you are renting a moving truck, I’d suggest calling up U-haul, getting a quote from them and then getting a quote from Ryders. Sometimes you can get them into competition with each other and it will drive down the cost of the move.

Another tip is to check for surrounding areas. This works with trucks or trailers. If its a long distance move, the price difference can be substantial even for places not far apart. Example. Say you’re moving from Denver to Seattle. You might wanna check the rates for dropoff in Tacoma, Washington. It’s an hour drive from Seattle but you might save a nice chunk of change.

Remember, U-Haul has a 1-800 number, put their agents to work saving you money.

Though I am not married yet, I definitely agree that moving is quite hard,it is tiring, it is annoying, it’s expensive. Recently, my older brother and my sister-in-law moved to another place. And it was so labored. Before that, we packed their things hardly, rent a cheapest truck , carried there, unpacked here, wheew! I hate it!
