Submission & Domination – Site Submission & SERP Domination, That Is

Site submission. A really boring subject. Especially if you’re trying to smooth-talk a sexy woman – don’t try to talk to her about pinging. She’ll either be bored out of her wits if she knows what “pinging” is, or she’ll think you’re saying something dirty and she’ll slap you “upside the haid”.

Anyway, it’s been a while since we’ve talked about SEO. Last time, some angry elderly man complained about how using Comment Hut is “called blackhat SEO” and that’s why bloggers are using “dofollow”. (Bwahahaha! I think the guy meant nofollow, but whatever.) He made me laugh. So maybe I’ll make another old-timer angry this time, I dunno – but believe me guys none of the stuff I do is really blackhat SEO. I think ya gotta get more hardcore than this stuff. But who cares, let’s move on. I want to add one more piece to the “SERP domination” puzzle by giving you two awesome site submission methods.

The name of the game with making money online is automation. So I like to either write scripts that do things for me, or find a script someone wrote, or find a program someone made, or if all else fails just hire an Indian.

I forgot to mention, the name of the game is actually automation AND multiplication. You have GOT to have a bunch of sites with just about any niche, or you’ll make a couple dollars here and a couple there but no REAL money. So sooner or later you’re gonna be running a dozen sites or more if you get serious about this.

So you need to automate. And one area in which automation is needed is in submitting your site to places. I’m talking about when one of your sites gets new content added to it – you want various places on the net to be kept informed. I’m talking about places like:

  • Google
  • Yahoo!
  • MSN
  • Ask
  • digg
  • Technorati
  • del.icio.us
  • Reddit
  • StumbleUpon

…and a bunch more. You get the picture. So here’s what I do with my sites, most of which happen to be WordPress blogs.

Method 1: Fast Pings

I’m not gonna go into the whys, but I don’t have WordPress do my pinging. I do it myself. Every time there’s new content. And it takes me about one minute. What I did is set up a webpage that only I know about and I call it my Super-Secret Fast Ping Page. (I also have a Super Secret Special Hiding Place and a Super Secret Drug Stash.)

The page just a plain old HTML page with a list of links that do different things when I click them, one set of these links for each site I have. So I can click on “Pingoat – DIY Dollars” and it will send Pingoat a submission for this blog. Then I click on “Ping Ask – DIY Dollars” and it tells Ask.com that the sitemap has been updated. I have one for “Ping Yahoo” as well. All the links are is the URL that would be sent if you manually went to each of these sites. So one of them looks like:

<a href=”http://search.yahooapis.com/SiteExplorerService/V1/ping?sitemap=http://vargaspinups.info”>Ping Yahoo – Vargas</a>

and another one is like this:

<a href=”http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A//vargaspinups.info/sitemap.xml”>Ping Ask – Vargas</a>

This is so simple to set up, but it saves a ton of time. If I was smart I would make it even more automated with PHP.

Method 2: OnlyWire Autosubmission

This is the REAL timesaver. This only applies if you use WordPress. First, go to onlywire.com and get an account. Then go straight down that list of social bookmarking sites and register for every single one of ‘em, and put your login info in your OnlyWire account. You’ll end up with 16 accounts at different places. Okay, you killed an hour by doing that? Good. You’ll get that hour back soon enough.

Now go download this WordPress plugin. Install it. Go to the options screen and tell it your OnlyWire login info. Now sit back and enjoy an ice-cold lemonade – - because you deserve it, cowboy! You just automated the entire nightmare of submitting your blog entries to sixteen sites. It will all be done automatically from now on. Awesome? Hell yeah!!

So what about Reddit and digg? Ummm…you tell me. There’s probably a way to do it, but I don’t know of one. If someone knows, please leave it in the comments. And as far as Google, MSN, and Yahoo you can utilize the XML Sitemap plugin for WordPress to do this automatically.

So there ya go. Submission, followed by domination. All with the least amount of human work as we can get away with!

  1. your “download this wordpress plugin” link is broken; looks like yolu forgot the http://

  2. Thanks for the heads up Russ – it’s now fixed.

  3. This is great information! thanks.

some of the linked sites on only wire are either defunct or have problems with registering accounts. I was able to register for 16 out of the 22 available. The ones that didn’t work were:

    linkroll
    looklater
    markaboo
    rawsugar
    shadows
    unalog

  4. Thanks for pointing that out…Yes sir – it seems as if unalog has some work to do, probably they’ve been hit by spammers. But that happens to EVERY social bookmarking service. So there is indeed a handful of services that currently aren’t allowing regs, but the rest are working and quite useful.

  5. Well, I would suggest you to use getbookmarks.com it’s cool but all working social bookmarking sites are included

  6. Getbookmarks.com goes to a boring fluff search index page. Is that the right url?
